PROMOTING THE PEOPLE

LETTERPRESS PRINTING • POSTER DESIGN

With its vibrant colors and loud type, a Globe poster demands your attention. As a studio intern at Globe Letterpress Workshop (2017), I collaborated with screenprinters to design and print posters for various local organizations, maintained workshop equipment, and archived historical assets.

DANCE CAMP AT ARTSCAPE

Globe partnered with Guardian Baltimore, a dance cooperative that preserves African American folk traditions, to bring Dance Camp to Artscape 2017, America’s largest free art festival. We designed and installed posters for their venue, promoting Guardian Baltimore’s dance exhibitions for the public.

THE LEGEND OF COOL ‘DISCO’ DAN

Danny Hogg, known as COOL “DISCO” DAN, became a graffiti legend in D.C. in the late 1980s with his tag becoming widely recognized across the city. His influence on D.C.’s culture was documented in the 2013 film Legend of Cool "Disco" Dan. Filmmakers and longtime friends worked with the city to install a permanent memorial. Globe designed a promotional fund-raising poster for the memorial service.

TAKEAWAYS

Working with physical media in today’s digital age is a privilege, and doing so at a historic place like Globe was unforgettable. Collaborating with talented artists, building poster frames with wooden type blocks, and turning the wheels of historical printing presses was nothing short of inspiring. Beyond honing my skills in typography, color, and embracing a style so different from my own, I’m grateful for the opportunity to engage with the local community through design. Globe has always been the voice of the people, and it was an honor to lift up those voices.
